Hans Van de Wal graduated cum laude as Master of Laws at the University of Antwerp in 2007. He started working as a trainee at elegis Antwerp in August 2007 under the guidance of Peter Engels. He achieved the BUBA certificate (license to practice law as an attorney) in 2008.
After his traineeship and acceptance to the bar in 2010, he continued to provide legal services as an attorney-at-law with elegis.
Hans Van de Wal specialises in contracts and commercial law as well as criminal law (white-collar crime and business crime).
While assisting multinationals, banks and SMEs, Hans Van de Wal has rendered legal services ranging from legal opinions about basic contracts, existing contracts (commercial lease/sale/leasing/…) to litigation about the interpretation, application and execution of agreements. The same applies to contracting: Hans Van de Wal renders advice and provides assistance in legal proceedings, including court surveys.
As far as criminal law is concerned, Hans Van de Wal provides assistance in the pre-trial phase as well as during criminal proceedings for both suspects and victims.
Hans Van de Wal is a member of the ECBA (European Criminal Bar Association) and several of its working groups. In this capacity, he is frequently asked to speak at ECBA conferences abroad as well as at seminars/conferences of ECBA partners, such as EULITA.
He is the author of an article in the magazine for legal professionals R.A.B.G.: “Het quasi onverjaarbare karakter van het gebruik van valse stukken”, noot onder Gent, 27 februari 2014, R.A.B.G., 2014, 1337.
